The village of Ossining, N.Y., one of the River Towns located on the Hudson River, is north of New York City.  It is three square miles in size and has a diverse population of 25,000.  As residents of Scarborough Manor have learned, Ossining played an important part in pre-Revolutionary War history and is also now the home of the historic Sing Sing Correctional Facility.

Grocery shopping is within walking distance at the Arcadian Shopping Center which also offers great restaurants, banking and hair salons, among other services. 

 

The Ossining Public Library is a terrific community resource as is the Joseph G. Caputo Community Center which, among other amenities, has an Olympic size swimming pool and a senior center.
